He has also attracted attention from the bookbinding and music industries, and has worked on many tie-up projects. He also serves as a designer for the fashion brand “Esth.”, which he launched in 2020.
■ Setsuda Sun

He retired from baseball at the age of 24 and became an independent illustrator, focusing on illustration, a hobby he had had since the age of 14. Using academic knowledge such as psychology that he learned on his own, he intentionally creates works that strike a chord with the viewer, and is active mainly on social media. In addition to illustration, he is also expanding his range of activities into other fields, such as modeling and giving lectures, making use of his knowledge and experience.
■NAKAKI PANTS
Illustrator. Born in Fukuoka Prefecture. Her illustrations of strong, cute, and unique women have garnered attention, and the music video she designed for MAISONdes’ “Yowanehaki feat. Wanuka, asmi” has been viewed over 36 million times. She is also active in the creative field of many other fashion brands, including cover illustrations and advertising visuals.
■MAISONdes
MAISONdes is a fictional apartment that produces the music most used on social media today. Each song is assigned a room, and singers and creators “move into” MAISONdes to produce pop music called “Rokujohan Pops.” Several songs, such as “Yowanehaki” and “Tokyo Shandy Rendezvous,” have been streamed over 100 million times on domestic streaming services.
MAISONdes may exist on Earth, or in space. It may be in the future, or it may be in the past. The only thing that is certain is that the rooms are six and a half tatami mats in size. Songs for each room are released through collaborations between singers and creators that could only be born in this place and in this era. Each room has its own story and song, and there is surely one room that you feel is “your story.” This apartment is the place where you can find “your song.”
About the craftsmen who make gold screens
■ Taizando Yoshitsugu Yamaji
Taizando was founded in Hiroshima in 1887. Currently, there are only about four companies in Japan that are capable of producing gold folding screens for ceremonies, and in its 130-year history, Taizando has a track record of supplying to government agencies, long-established hotels, and academic institutions, including the Prime Minister’s Official Residence, consulates of various countries through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Imperial Hotel, Hotel Okura, Daitokuji Temple, Tohoku University, and Gakushuin University.
In 2000, he was one of the first to recognize the technology and necessity for “digital preservation” of cultural assets such as national treasures, and began working on “creating folding screens using cultural asset reproduction technology.” He has been involved in projects such as the Cultural Assets Future Inheritance Project Tsuzuri and the Edo-zu byobu (folding screens) at the National Museum of Japanese History.
In recent years, manga, anime, games, and other content that represent Japanese culture that is a source of pride for the world are being viewed in the context of contemporary art, and the Tokyo Station anime studio is actively considering fusing these with traditional craft techniques, such as producing art panels of Kishimoto-sensei’s answer illustrations for “NARUTOP99” using the digital restoration techniques of national treasure folding screens.
