Monogatary.com is a novel submission site where users can freely submit “stories” to “topics” given by the site’s management every day, and have fun reacting to them in various ways, such as adding illustrations and comments. The past contest “Monogatary 2019” hosted by the site attracted a lot of attention, such as the birth of “YOASOBI,” a unit that turns novels into music, which has been extremely successful, with their hit song “Idol” reaching number one on the global charts.
“READ” is a collaboration project by up-and-coming creators, mainly novelists, artists, and illustrators, originating from “monogatary.com”. We will deliver several original songs and lyric videos based on novels every month. It goes without saying that the original novels are interesting, so please enjoy the reinterpretation of novels by popular artists and creators.
Now, from “READ,” Vocaloid producer “Adachi Kasuka,” who is popular among early listeners for his songs with negative lyrics set to a fast-paced, band-like sound, is pleased to announce that he has digitally released a new song from “READ” today, Wednesday, August 14th, titled “Is It Warui to Be Worried About Whining?”, featuring vocals from “Kandachi Yu,” an artist known for her life-sized voice and words, who is also active as a VTuber.
The novel that inspired the song is a heartbreaking short story about one summer’s events, with a slug named “I” as the protagonist.
The song is re-expressed through Adachika’s characteristic fast-paced melody, catchy lyrics, and Kanji Yu’s characteristic piercing vocals.
It’s a song that will resonate with everyone and is the number one summer song of the year. Please give it a listen.
Furthermore, “READ” recreates the novel through illustrations.
For this song, we have produced an artwork and lyric video using an original illustration by the popular illustrator “Ankouma.” Please enjoy those as well.
