"If it becomes an anime..."Popular illustrator popman3580 has been confirmed to participate in the second installment of the Fantasy Anime Project, the second round of a novel contest that makes such fantasies come true!

“monogatary.com”, a novel submission site operated by Sony Music Entertainment Inc., is a platform where users can freely submit “stories” to “topics” given by the site operators every day, and have fun by adding various reactions to the stories, such as illustrations and comments. The past contest “Monocon 2019” hosted by the site attracted a lot of attention, such as the birth of “YOASOBI”, a unit that “turns novels into music”, which has been extremely successful, with their hit song “Idol” reaching number one on the global charts.

■What is the “Fantasy Anime” project?

This project invites users to submit original novels based on their fantasies of what would happen if this were made into an anime.

In the first round, which took place last year, five voice actors from the 3rd generation of Music Rain voice actors (Kanata Aikawa, Miku Tachibana, Kokona Natsume, Moka Hinata, and Koharu Miyazawa) and VTuber Ruki Otoka produced and released an opening theme, ending theme, and insert song based on the grand prize-winning work.

The second part of the project, “Fantasy Anime Award vol.2,” is currently accepting submissions for a youth story about five girls who meet and spin a tale. The grand prize winner will have a theme song and audio drama based on the story produced.

The theme song will be sung and the characters’ voice actors for the audio drama will be five members of Music Rain’s third generation, who play the idol group “Tsuki no Tempest” from the media mix project “IDOLY PRIDE,” who were in charge of the theme song for the first installment.

This time, the illustrator in charge of the character design and main visuals for the grand prize winning work has been decided to be popman3580, an illustrator currently attracting attention for his work on the illustrations for comedian Soshina’s original music video and the original character designs for the TV anime “Nighttime Jellyfish Can’t Swim.”

In addition to character designs and setting materials by popman3580, original illustrations have also been produced, and the project is scheduled to be released as a photo book with a CD containing the theme song and audio drama.
