Last year, the band “illiomote” made their first appearance at Fuji Rock and has been chosen to sing the theme song for an original short film by ABEMA. They have just released their new song “I Want to Tell You, Ego”! They are also announcing a special event with free tickets!

Sony Music Entertainment Inc. is pleased to announce the release of a new song by “illiomote,” “I Want to Tell You, Ego,” as part of the novel, music, and illustration collaboration project “READ.”

Monogatary.com is a novel submission site where users can freely submit “stories” to “topics” given by the site’s management every day, and have fun reacting to them in various ways, such as adding illustrations and comments. The past contest “Monogatary 2019” hosted by the site attracted a lot of attention, such as the birth of “YOASOBI,” a unit that turns novels into music, which has been extremely successful, with their hit song “Idol” reaching number one on the global charts.

“READ” is a collaborative project from “monogatary.com” featuring up-and-coming creators, mainly novelists, artists, and illustrators.

We will be releasing a few original songs and lyric videos based on the novels every month. It goes without saying that the original novels are fascinating, so please enjoy the reinterpretations of the novels by popular artists and creators.

We are now pleased to announce that the new song “I Want to Tell You, Ego” by “illiomote,” who is on a roll after making their first appearance at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL last year and having their song chosen as the theme song for the ABEMA original short film “The Day I Learned Love,” has been digitally released today, August 2nd (Friday).

“illiomote” is a duo band formed by childhood friends YOCO (Vo, Gt) and MAIYA (Gt). They play music with the stance of “HAPPY POP” that “does not deny the negative emotions in one’s own heart or the negative emotions of others.”

In July 2022, he was selected as the July JAPAN Ambassador for Spotify’s global program “EQUAL”, and in 2023, he will release the EP “HMN3” and make his first appearance at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL. In November, he will hold his first solo live show “PANIC HOUSE” at Daikanyama UNIT, attracting attention.

The new song “I Want to Tell You, Ego” released today is based on the novel “Someone on the Other Side of the Public Phone” posted on monogatary.com. The story is a mysteriously fascinating, fantastical, and positive story. Please enjoy listening to the novel and the audio version.

What’s more, CRYBORG, a popular illustrator who was featured in ILLUSTRATION2024 and has over 200,000 followers, is in charge of the artwork and lyric video for the song “I Want to Tell You, Ego.” The lyric video has also been released, so please take a look.

“READ” is a project that allows you to experience a three-dimensional worldview through the three axes of novels, music, and illustrations.

Be sure to check out the works created in collaboration with “illiomote” and “CRYBORG.”

Finally, we are pleased to announce that a special event with no tickets will be held on Friday, August 30th at TOKIO TOKYO in Tokyo, called “illiomote End of Summer Festival”! A cute flyer hand-drawn by member YOCO has also been released. The timetable for the event has also been released, and there will be time to play with illiomote as a band, as well as time for recreation, making this an event perfect for the end of summer, with plenty of fun things to enjoy outside of the live performance.
