Interview | Joe Cupertino
Doesn’t everyone feel this way sometimes?
Joe Cupertino’s third album “RE:” is a rich work that offers new discoveries every time you listen to it. The hip-hop beats are sprinkled with clever samples, and the rich musicality that emerges in the background shows a variety of expressions. Guest performers such as Lil’ Leise But Gold, Suzuki Mamiko (chelmico), Ole, and Tamaki ROY sing freely and develop the sound very freely. Joe Cupertino’s lyrics, which seamlessly connect Japanese and English, are also comfortable and have a certain warmth to them. The imaginative musicality is unique and sets him apart from current domestic hip-hop.
As his name suggests, he is from Cupertino, California, USA. He started his career in 2019 and has consistently released albums such as “CUPETOWN” (2021) and “SAD JOE AID Ö” (2022). And yet, it is interesting to note that he was the vocalist of a death metal band when he was a student. What kind of background does he have? Here is the first interview with this up-and-coming artist.
