Seven years have passed since their previous album “FIRE,” with recording beginning at the end of November 2020, and it has been quite some time since the album’s release was hinted at, but Triple Fire’s latest album “EXTRA” is finally scheduled for release on July 31st.
Let’s start with the digital release.
Three years have passed since I first started brewing, and although I am getting older, the number seven is exciting, and this is a masterpiece that matches the meaning of the words “aging” and “fermentation” which refer to “improvement in flavor and quality.”
The pre-release single “Aiseki-ya Iitai” is now available for download starting today.
Also released are album artwork by illustrator Minoru Tanibata and a new artist photo photographed by cherry chill will.
“Ultimate Party 11,” which was announced as a self-produced event and will be held on August 19th at Club Quattro in Shibuya, will be an “EXTRA” release party, and will feature all of the album’s guests: Keyboards: Numazawa Naruki, Percussion: Shimada Boy, Flute: Ikeda Wakana, and Vocals: PLASTICMAI.
Tickets are on sale now, so be sure to come along for this unmissable night.
Customers under 19 years old can enter by paying only for the drink fee (U-19 TICKET FREE!!).
The extremely diverse musicality of their latest album, “EXTRA,” is a far cry from the great catchphrase that Triple Fire was given when they first debuted: “Joy Division of Takadanobaba.”
But then who is it? “Talking Heads? George Clinton?” you might ask, but the various elements have been mixed together and transformed into strange shapes, as if they’ve been kneaded together with clay, and in conclusion, the result is an originality that can only be described as “Takadanobaba’s Triple Fire,” like “Tora-san of Shibamata.”
After a difficult birth, we can proudly say that “Triple Fire” has been born, a monster that is more pop and entertaining than ever before.
The band has brilliantly sublimated the classic albums of their predecessors, including Afro-beat, funk, rock, Brazilian, and a mixture of these elements, into brand new music that is guided primarily by what the band wants to express.
With the strong support of Ikeda Wakana (Flute), Numazawa Naruki (Keyboards), Shimada Boy (Percussion), and PLASTICMAI (M6 Guest Vocals), as well as recording by Baba Tomomi and mixing and mastering by The Anticipation Illicit Tsuboi, we were able to achieve the image that the members had wanted to achieve more than ever before.
As a result, the “fun, danceable music” that is the foundation of their music appears one after another, like the characters depicted on the album jackets.
In terms of sound, Torii Masamichi (guitar) takes the helm, while Yamamoto Yoshiyuki (bass), Ogaki Sho (drums), Yoshida Yasunao (vocals), and guests create incredibly unique and incredibly fun music.
Additionally, vocalist Yoshida Yasunao, who has made a huge impact on the public, including being a semi-regular on “Tamori Club,” and is also active in the writing world, writing essays and scripts, has a lyric style that “I write what I truly believe,” and the golden rule that is the combination of this band’s exploration of sound, including vocal flow, is an important point in the making of this mysterious music, even on a global scale.
Although the words exude from Yoshida’s own self, the world of the poem also feels like it is written from a divine perspective.
As he gets a little older and faces situations where he is starting to be treated like an old man, he feels a sense of struggle and resignation.
It’s a collection of songs that you will surely relate to and that no one has ever put into song before.
This song has made a strong impact on the hip hop scene, and its sharpness as a punchline-producing machine is even more pronounced.
Not only are the words interesting, but the songs are more melodic than ever before and the sound is stylish, making this a life-sized masterpiece, their first in seven years, that we have a feeling will reach a wider audience.
Could this be the kind of interesting music coming out of Japan in this day and age? This long-awaited new album will make you nod in agreement with that hypothesis.

[Triple Fire Profile]
Yasunao Yoshida (vocal) / Masamichi Torii (guitar) / Yoshiyuki Yamamoto (bass) / Sho Ogaki (drums)
Formed in 2006, the current lineup was formed in 2010. They released “Exciting Flash” in May 2012, “Skill Up” in February 2014, “Epitaph” in September 2015, and “FIRE” in November 2017. They plan to release their 5th album “EXTRA” in 2024, their first in 7 years.
Although they have not released any albums, they have continued to perform energetically at live shows and are popular with warm audiences.
In recent years, they have deviated from post-punk and rock, absorbing a wide variety of music, including funk, Brazilian, and Afrobeat, to create a mysterious and cool sound. Yoshida’s lyrics and flow, while funny, convey a sense of passion to the listener, sending them home, making them even more addictive.
Another big plus point is that they’re singing a little more than they did before.
All the members have good personalities and many friends.
