Satoko Shibata
Singer-songwriter/poet. Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Graduated from Musashino Art University and completed graduate studies at Tokyo University of the Arts.
He began his activities in 2010 after hearing a comment from his university teacher.
In 2012, she made her album debut with her first album “Shibata Satoko Island,” which was produced by Hiroki Misawa and recorded over multiple tracks. Since then, she has expanded her activities, mainly focusing on singing, such as presenting the hour-long monologue-like work “Tanomoshii Musume” at the theater festival Festival/Tokyo 13, and released her sixth original album “Bochibochi Ginga” in 2022.
In 2016, he published his first collection of poems, “Desert.” In the same year, he won the 5th El Sur Foundation Newcomer Award. He has also contributed many poems, essays, picture book stories, and more. In 2023, he will publish a collection of essays, “Kiregire no Diary,” which is a compilation of his serialization in the literary magazine “Bungakukai” over a period of seven years. He is also attracting attention as a poet, with a feature in the magazine “Eureka” scheduled.
In addition to releasing his own works, he is not picky about the form of expression he takes, and also provides songs for films and TV dramas, and produces music videos entirely on his own, including shooting and editing them.
On February 28, 2024, they released their latest album, “Your Favorite Things.”
