Arakoi announces event! Tickets on sale now! New live video also released!!!

To prearranged lovers“To the Prearranged Lovers,” who are set to release a new album “Kyoumei” and perform at Fuji Rock, have announced that they will be holding an event.
The event title is “On a Night of Afterimages vol.6” presented to pre-determined lovers.
Guests will include downt and CARTHIEFSCHOOL.
Tickets are on sale starting today.
On the occasion of the event, Ikenaga made the following comment “To the Prearranged Lovers”:

The Arakoi project “On a Night of Afterimages” will be back again this year.
The guests are “downt” and “CARTHIEFSCHOOL”, both of whom are incredibly cool.
This time, we are going back to the original concept and want to create an event with a stronger sense of afterimage.
I don’t know how many hundreds of years ago people started saying “people are complicated,” but they’re still as complicated as ever. What’s more, information is overflowing so much that it’s hard to know what’s true. Since “truth” changes depending on your position, maybe there’s no truth at all. I don’t even have anything to say to begin with. Well, I do have things to say, but they’re not things that are logically explained and convincing with evidence, but rather things that are accumulated day by day and become music, things that are good and bad, my weaknesses that I don’t want to admit, things that are inconvenient, conflicting emotions that don’t make sense but definitely exist, all of them ringing out without rounding off. If I make it clear, it’ll be a lie, so I want to make it an event like an afterimage that rings out with a roar that includes everything, including Gowan. I want to make it a night like that.
Please come and see it!
nice to meet you!

[Profile for prearranged lovers]

A lyrical cinematic dub band founded in 1997 as Shoji Ikenaga’s solo unit.
Their signature sound is influenced by nostalgic melodies played on keyboard harmonica, UK DUB, new wave, and 90’s alternative. In their live performances, they not only make full use of video and lighting, but also Ikenaga’s roars and feedback noises make the floors all over the country go wild.
In addition to Ikenaga, who is active as a soundtrack composer, having composed the music for “1122: A Good Couple” (directed by Imaizumi Rikiya, starring Takahata Mitsuki and Okada Masaki), “Percent” (starring Ito Marika and Wago Yui), and “0.5 Man” (directed by Okita Shuichi, starring Matsuda Ryuhei), the other members also have a wide range of individual activities.
In January 2024, the new album “Kyoumei” will be released, a return to the band’s roots.

downt[downt profile]

Since their formation in 2021, they have been active mainly in the Tokyo live music scene, and following the release of their first album “downt” (both CD and CT sold out) in October of the same year, they quickly became a presence that attracted attention in the emo and alternative live house scene. In June of the following year, they released their EP “SAKANA ep” (both CD and CT sold out), appeared at FUJI ROCKFESTIVAL ’22 “ROOKIE A GO-GO”, and released the compilation record “Anthology” worldwide from the UK label Dog Knights (which sold out immediately), making their name known everywhere in 2022. In 2023, their activities have expanded even further, with appearances at large circuits such as SYNCHRONICITY and MINAMI WHEEL, collaborations with many overseas artists such as Gestalt Otome (Taiwan), Grrrl Gang (Indonesia), Pswingset (US), and deathcrash (UK), and the release of the single “III” in June, including the masterpiece “13th Month” that shows a new direction as a band. The long-awaited first full album “Underlight & Aftertime”, which has steadily raised the stage over the years, will be released on March 6th. After the release, they will tour Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, and appear at SYNCHRONICITY’24, which was a record-breaking sold-out venue, and will perform their first overseas performance in China (Shanghai, Hangzhou) in April. In June, a 2-day performance will be held in Okinawa as an EXTRA performance of the tour. NiEW Presents “exPoP!!!!” is a free event held in June that is highly acclaimed for booking up-and-coming artists every month. With the announcement of two bands, downt and Stupid Day, the tickets were sold out in as little as six hours, and the excitement is building in direct proportion to the summer! With the CD of the album selling well, a cassette release has also been announced for July 3rd!
