MINMI saw Nagasaka Shingo’s work “Moon,” which is said to be one of his masterpieces, at his solo exhibition held at the Ueno Royal Museum.
Impressed by Nagasaka’s story, thoughts and activities, she played the piano that night, and the melody and words that came to her by inspiration that day became the song “Tsuki”. A simple arrangement with only violin and piano, it is an original and beautiful song that seems to mix classical music and pop, which are the foundation of MINMI. Nagasaka liked it very much when she heard it later, and it was also chosen as the ending song for the NHK BS1 documentary program “The Human – Save the slums with the power of art! Artist Nagasaka Shingo” in which she appeared.
The new work will be released to coincide with the full moon on Thursday, May 23rd.
The jacket uses Nagasaka’s work “FULL MOON,” the one that impressed MINMI the most.
Although MINMI wrote the lyrics and music, she got the inspiration and story from Nagasaka, and because she wanted to get involved in slum eradication efforts, she gave half the rights to the song to Nagasaka, and MINMI also supports the effort to eradicate slums in Ghana.
The music video will also be released on Saturday, May 25th.
The music video was shot at the Moon Festival, which is held only once a year in Ghana, Africa, which Nagasaka created using waste from Ghana and aims to eradicate slums with the profits. With the idea of ”eradicating slums with the power of art and music,” Nagasaka suggested shooting the video at the Moon Festival, which is held only once a year in Ghana. The filming funds were raised through crowdfunding.
We produced a music video with people from the slums of Ghana, hoping to use the power of music and art to help expand the movement to eradicate slums, transcending language and borders.
The challenge of art + music is to spread it all over the world. It is a valuable music video that has become a sensational video as a message song that conveys the current situation of slums, the world’s garbage problem, inequality, and activities that change the world through art, so please check it out.
