GOMA & The Jungle Rhythm Section, led by didgeridoo artist GOMA, will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their formation by holding JUNGLE FESTIVAL 2024 at Kanda Myojin Hall on Friday, August 23, 2024, and have announced the release of a series of singles in preparation for the memorable event.
GOMA, a didgeridoo player who has also been active as a painter in recent years, has two new releases: one under the name of his groove band “GOMA & The Jungle Rhythm Section (JRS),” which is celebrating its 20th anniversary, and one under the name of his new project “GOMA Homeworks,” which introduces a horn section.
JRS uses the didgeridoo as its main instrument, but creates an extraordinary sense of exhilaration with passionate dance beats from percussion and drums.
“GOMA Homeworks” fuses brass melodies played on trumpets and trombones with the low notes of the folk instrument didgeridoo to create an exotic sound.
The songs under both names, which although differing in style (such as different arrangements of the same songs) are deeply related and circulating, will be released alternately and consecutively from June 1st.
GOMA’s current state as a musician is expressed through the intersection of two “veins” (= paths).
“JUNGLE FESTIVAL 2024” to be held at Kanda Myojin Hall will be a special one-man performance with a set list unique to the 20th anniversary, songs with new arrangements, and a spectacular live performance and video. We hope you will experience the best time that condenses the past and the present.
In addition, advance tickets with original badges are on sale exclusively at the venue of his currently running solo exhibition “GOMA: The World of Light” (held at Omotesando GYRE GALLERY until June 29th).

●GOMA & The Jungle Rhythm Section Profile
The hottest, most danceable and strongest groove band, centered around didgeridoo artist GOMA.
Members: Kyoichi Shiino, Kenta Takagi, and Kosuke Tsuji.
Their performances, which create a wild groove through raging rhythms and didgeridoo sessions without using any electronic instruments, have become a huge hit at outdoor festivals and parties.
In 2009, GOMA was involved in a traffic accident and suspended activities.
In 2011, he overcame the hardships of an accident that left him with no chance of recovery, and resumed his musical career at FUJIROCK FESTIVAL.
The film “Flashback Memories 3D”, which depicts the band’s journey to their comeback in 2012 using only live footage of the band and GOMA’s diary, won the Audience Award at the Tokyo International Film Festival and was a huge hit, attracting an audience of over 20,000 people.
Since celebrating their 10th anniversary in 2014, the band has continued to engage in a wide range of activities, including holding solo concerts and appearing at festivals around the country, and in 2018 they released their long-awaited new album, “STARTING OVER,” their first in about nine years.
In the same year, he organized his own outdoor festival “JUNGLE FESTIVAL” in Minamiboso, Chiba, which was a huge success.
He is responsible for creating the music for the illuminated track entrance at the opening ceremony of the 2021 Tokyo Paralympics.
