Have you read a book recently that made you cry?
The picture book “I’m About to Be Brought Home” (by Yuji Hasegawa) is a story about a calf named “I” who has accepted his fate and goes to meet his mother. It has become a hot topic among a wide range of generations as a tear-jerking picture book, and was published by Chuokoron-Shinsha (August 2022), selling an astonishing 200,000 copies in just two years!
A theme song has been created for the highly anticipated bestselling picture book “I’m Going to Get Struck” 🎵
The song is sung by the duo “Nono-chan” (Murakata Nono), a little Reiwa diva who brings energy and smiles to the world, and “Kakki” (Kakishima Shinji), who has worked on numerous children’s music songs, including the ending theme for NHK Educational TV’s “Hana Kappa.”
The duet version, which will be released by STARBASE RECORDS on September 25th, features perfectly synchronized back and forth, and the sad lyrics and heartwarming melody make it a tear-jerker, following on from the picture book, and is likely to be “warning: you’ll cry!”
On the same day that the song was released, a reading video narrated by Yamaguchi Moe, who is a huge fan of “I’ll Be Served Right Now”, was also released.
Moe Yamaguchi was so impressed by the story that she bought the picture book herself before it became popular and wrote a reading card to send to the publisher.
Her narration and the illustrations in the picture book match perfectly, making this another tear-jerking video.
A Nono-chan (Murakata Nonoha) version was released on October 30th, and a Kakki (Kakishima Shinji) version was released on November 27th. Each song has a different feel, and they are all well worth listening to.
“I’ll Be Eating Soon” is a picture book, music, and video that can be enjoyed in every way.
This work is filled with the kind of “love” that we should never forget, so I hope you will experience it in many different ways.
(Don’t forget to bring a handkerchief and towel…)

Comment from Nonochan (Nono Murakata)
During the recording, I sang with the feeling that I was a cow saying goodbye to my mother. It was a little sad, but I enjoyed singing it! My mother bought me a picture book called “I’m about to be eaten,” and I was moved as I read it, thinking that although it was very sad that cows were going to be eaten, cows can also be a source of strength to humans.

Comment from Kakki (Shinji Kakishima)
I wrote the song “I’ll Be Getting Caught Soon” in my living room while looking at the picture book. When I saw the lyrics, I decided to make the melody minor. Nono’s pure and sad singing voice expands the world of the picture book even further. And the last lyrics really touch my heart. I couldn’t be happier if many people listened to it.

Comment from Moe Yamaguchi
I was happy to be able to recite a work I love. I thought a lot about whether to lower the tone of my voice or read it more cheerfully. I was able to read it without being too sad, and with the feelings I wanted to convey. I hope a wide range of people will listen to the recitation and song.
