Chim Chap, a four-piece mix band from Shiga, will release their first single “Sequins” exclusively on August 7th. Having won the grand prize at ESP BAND CONTEST 2023 and Teen White Paper 2024, Chim Chap has steadily built up a track record and gained acclaim for their live performances. This is their long-awaited single release.
“Sequins” is a song that reminds me of the theme song of a trendy summer drama with its 80’s city pop sound and light and refreshing beat. Vocalist Jesse sings the lyrical and gentle lyrics with his sweet and expansive voice, and the rhythmic band ensemble matches it well, making it a pleasant song to listen to and accepted by people of all ages and genders.
This is a must-listen love song for the summer of 2024.

A fusion band from Shiga consisting of four members: Vo. & Gt. Jesse, Gt. Ryo Suzuki, Ba. Ryoga Miyamoto, and Drums Doiren. Based in the Kansai region, they are active in live houses and street performances. They won the ESP BAND CONTEST 2023 and Juudai Hakusho 2024 Grand Prix. Each member has different roots, such as rock, pop, jazz, and funk, and they play a variety of songs.
One of the charms of Chim Chap is the lyrics written in a mix of Japanese and English by Jesse, who has roots in Japan and the United States, and his unique style in which he not only sings and guitars, but also plays guitar solos as lead guitar.
