YOASOBI will hold their first solo concert on the East Coast of the United States at Radio City Music Hall in New York on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, and at MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston on Thursday, August 8. The concert kicked off with the live debut of “UNDEAD,” the theme song for the currently airing anime “Monogatari Series Off & Monster Season,” and included a 90-minute set list of 17 songs, including an encore. In the middle of the concert, they also performed the 3D video that was also featured in the “YOASOBI ZEPP TOUR 2024 “POP OUT”” held in January. The long-awaited solo concert in the United States, which sold out tickets soon after they went on sale, attracted a total of about 10,000 people for both shows, and ended with a great excitement from start to finish. YOASOBI has performed at major American festivals such as the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April and Lollapalooza in August, and has also successfully held four solo concerts in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and Chicago. We hope you will look forward to their future global activities.

[Live Report]

Boston, Massachusetts, USA. YOASOBI has arrived at the MGM Music Hall at Fenway, located in Fenway Park overlooking the Charles River. After performing at the music festival Lollapalooza in Chicago and a solo concert at Radio City Music Hall in New York, this will be the final show of the tour and the start of their fourth solo concert in the US.

The first song was “UNDEAD”. It is a new song that is the theme song for the anime “Monogatari Series Off & Monster Season” that has been streaming on ABEMA since July. ikura’s versatile vocals bounce around on top of the band’s aggressive performance. As this is the first time they’ve performed the song live on this tour, the Boston audience was also excited in their own way. With some encouragement in between, they performed aggressive songs “Blessings” and “Seventeen” one after the other, and the air in Boston, which had been cool at around 20 degrees, suddenly became heated.

This year, YOASOBI performed at Coachella, one of the world’s largest festivals, in April, and also had successful solo concerts in Los Angeles and San Francisco. ikura’s English MC skills are also impressive. Every time the intro to “Harujion” or “Sukida” was played, the audience cheered loudly, and during “Tabun,” the lights of all the smartphones lit up at once increased the sense of unity in the venue.

Once the members disappeared from the stage, a message was displayed on the front LED encouraging the audience to put on the “Glasses” that were distributed at the entrance. The 3D graphics that were a hot topic at the “YOASOBI Zepp Tour 2024 “POP OUT”” held in Japan from January to March this year also appeared here. The audience was surprised by the rare production at a music live show.

In the following MC, Ayase read the letter he had prepared. He expressed his gratitude for being welcomed by so many fans in this place, and delivered “Idol” with the provocation of “Perfect Night!!”, a song that has a strong presence in the global charts, raising the temperature of the venue significantly. Next, they performed “Yuusha” and “Kaibutsu”, theme songs of popular anime. The performance was overwhelming, filled with confidence that must have come from the many stages they have accumulated, rather than relying on the popularity of the songs. ikura talked about her memories of Boston, where she visited as a child, and her joy at being able to return there in the form of a solo live show, and the last song was “Gunjou” followed by “HEART BEAT”. The members on stage looked satisfied with the chorus in Japanese that erupted, and the main part of the show ended on a grand finale.

In response to the enthusiastic calls, they performed an encore with “Yoru ni Kakeru,” showing their playful side by saying, “I’m sure everyone knows this song,” and ended the show with the packed venue shaking up. The never-ending applause spoke of the excitement and enthusiasm of everyone who had gathered.

In addition, it has been decided that the English version of the latest song “Stage Standing”, “On the Stage”, will be released digitally on August 11th (Sunday), the last day of the Olympics, and the jacket photo has been released. To create the song, three manga artists active in Shueisha’s “Shonen Jump+”, Taizan 5, Yuki Kirishima, and Hiruga Haruno, were asked to create a work on the theme of sports. Based on the manga that they wrote, Jun Esaka wrote a novel, which was then produced as the original novel. As the “NHK Sports Theme 2024”, it is a heart-pumping guitar rock tune that was written with the image of the conflicts and excitement that athletes face. And the English version of “On the Stage” is a fast-paced song born from the distinctive rhythm that is unique to English lyrics, so please enjoy it.
