Carnival Youth is a four-piece indie band formed in Riga, Latvia in 2011. It has gained popularity for its sound that combines uplifting melodies, positive energy, and dreamy tones. Their latest single, “Empire Of Temptations,” explores new territory with their laid-back, groovy sound. Drummer and vocalist Emils Kaupels has this to say about the change:

“The pandemic has passed, we’ve finished school, and now we’re entering our 40th year on this planet. In the grand scheme of things, we’re just a grain in a big cornflake bowl of music. It may be a little strange, but it is an important and happy milestone for us.”

The music video for the new song “Empire Of Temptations” was produced by the band members themselves. Directed by Edgars Kaupels on guitar and vocals, edited by Roberts Vanax on keyboards and vocals. Emilus, who plays the main character, completed the distance of nearly two full marathons during filming.

Edgars, who directed the video, says:

“While we all came up with the initial concept for the video, I took on the role of director because I knew from experience that sharing responsibility was the best way to achieve the desired result.”

“To go along with the lively song, I wanted the visuals to be equally dynamic. The entire clip consists of running, filmed from a moving car.By adding pole vaulting, I wanted the visuals to be equally dynamic. “It adds a sense of purpose. If you look for it, you can find it. The lyrics are about breaking away from the mundane.” Edgars continues.

“The images in the video reflect the constant hustle and bustle of modern life, symbolically evoking the pole vaulter’s vertical leap out of the mundane, creating an extraordinary space. You can interpret it in your own way,” Roberts adds.
