In addition, the new song “New me” will be released 24 hours later and the book “New me – Bungei x monogatary.com novel collection” which also includes the original novel “Hakusan Dori Burning Case” will be released tomorrow!

YOASOBI completed their first dome live “YOASOBI 5th ANNIVERSARY DOME LIVE 2024 ‘Hyururitsu'” in Tokyo and Osaka in commemoration of their 5th anniversary, with a total of 4 performances in Tokyo and Osaka, attracting approximately 170,000 people. YOASOBI reached a major milestone on October 1, 2024, marking their 5th anniversary. Looking back on the five years that have passed at a dizzying pace since the release of the song in 2019, the tour title “Hyuroretsu” embodies the image of YOASOBI that we discovered during that time. The performance embodies this theme through production and performance, and on the final day, November 10th (Sunday), there will be a performance of “Tsubame” with Midleys as a guest, as well as guest band members such as Satoru Taguchi (RED in BLUE), Tatsuya (Crossfaith) was invited to perform “Tracing That Dream” and “Three Primary Colors.” The live report of the final day’s performance is below.

[Live report]

YOASOBI, a unit consisting of composer Ayase and vocalist ikura, was born on October 1st five years ago as a “unit that turns novels into music.” He will be holding his first solo dome live “YOASOBI 5th ANNIVERSARY DOME LIVE “Surrealistic” to commemorate the 5th anniversary of his non-stop music scene, which has always been lively in the music scene with numerous hit songs and remarkable performances both domestically and internationally. The final performance was held on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at Tokyo Dome.

After two days at Kyocera Dome and a performance at Tokyo Dome the day before, Chiakiraku performed. The 50,000 tickets sold out quickly, including some sold-out seats, and even before the doors opened, the area around the venue was buzzing with activity, much like an autumn festival. At just after 5pm, the excitement that seemed to blow away even the cloudy skies was engulfed in the atmosphere, and with expectations soaring that they were about to explode, the curtain on “surrealism” began.

The opening is a mix of past live footage that still has an innocent feel, the phrase “Welcome to the world of surreality” is repeated, and the YOASOBI logo is projected onto a large LED with great impact. Just then, the monster’s claws tear the word YOASOBI into single letters, and two giant hands crawl out from the gap. When the monster’s eyes blinked in the upper center, the silhouettes of Ayase and Ikura appeared. The audience was transfixed by the tremendous amount of information.

The live performance started with the eccentric intro of “Seventeen”. The songs “Blessing” and “Monster” followed, and the LEDs alternated between showing writhing monsters and the fearless expressions of the members as they moved on stage. With ikura’s repeated encouragement, the audience’s voltage increased with each song, and loud cheers erupted when they started singing “UNDEAD,” the first new song of 2024.

At the time of their debut, YOASOBI had the impression of being a youth movement with an Internet background, but now they have gained national popularity, having participated in the NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen three times, and with their unpretentious personalities. Looking around the seats, I was once again surprised by the breadth of the customer base. A wide range of songs such as the popular early song “Haruzion” which was performed after a self-introduction, “Sukida” which cutely sings about pure love, and “A little more” which was used as the theme song of a morning news program and which is close to daily life during the coronavirus pandemic. The tension in the venue, which had been heightened to its limits, seemed to be relieved in a good way by the group of songs. On the left side of the stage, there was a nostalgic set with a vending machine and a bench. The way they delivered “Ocean Mani” and “Gentle Comet” as if spinning a story made me feel the originality of the unit in “turning novels into music” and the comfort of being immersed in the worldview of each song.

After a home video-like video that goes back 5 years, we move on to “Maybe” through an interface that appears to be Ayase’s laptop and Vocaloid audio, which is also his roots. The stage moves to the center stage, which is a reproduction of the arrangement when Ayase was living in the “DK part of the 2DK” at her sister’s house. Ayase feels nostalgic for the days when he created his early songs (from “Yoru ni Kakeru” to “Maybe”) during a period of financial hardship. ikura also responds, and injects “Haruka” with cheers for “you” who are working hard behind the scenes. After relaxing the atmosphere with a quiz corner using the controlled LED lights “Furihula” that had previously illuminated the venue, they performed their latest song “New me,” which was scheduled to be released the next day. Coupled with the lyrics playing on the LED, it was an act that gave the impression that this place, which can be called the origin, is also a new starting point.

The four band members who have supported YOASOBI at live performances for five years, Hougumo (Dr.), Hikaru Yamamoto (Bas.), Misohagizakuro (Key.), and AssH (Gt.), have strong fans as well as support. many. After an energetic solo performance that feels typical of YOASOBI even though it is an instrumental, each member speaks about their feelings. In response, Ayase called out the second half to begin, and ikura, wearing an elegant veil, appeared and immediately tightened the atmosphere with the song “Hero.” After a moment of silence, a loud cheer erupted at the a cappella opening of “Tracing That Dream,” followed by drummer Tatsuya (Crossfaith), who has strongly supported YOASOBI’s festival appearances and overseas performances, and guitarist Satoru Taguchi ( RED in BLUE) joined the group, making the group now eight members on stage. Another surprise was added to the long-awaited popular song, and the voltage at the venue reached its peak once again. The look on Ayase’s face as if he was savoring the pure joy of being in a band with like-minded friends is also impressive. The audience continued into the live tune “Sangenshoku” and responded by twirling towels. After sending off the two extra members with applause, they began to sing “Idol” with the idea that the song could only be completed with the voices of everyone present. In contrast to the chic ikura, which is all black, the Tokyo Dome is shaken by the 50,000-strong call of 50,000 people on a flashy stage that also includes kid dancers wearing all white, which is also the story of this song. Together, they looked particularly emotional.

Ayase expresses his gratitude to the 50,000 people who gathered with excitement. The MC has filled up the struggles he has had as a creator over the past five years, or even before that, and openly wants everyone to see all of them, but he doesn’t have a sense of sadness, but rather openly reveals himself. They performed their new song “Monotone” which was released on their 5th anniversary. When ikura took over the MC baton, as YOASOBI’s ikura, there were times when I felt like I was going to be shaken off by the ever-changing situation, but through live performances, connections with fans, and support from the staff, I am now able to take control of myself in the future. He says he is excited to see what kind of ikura he will encounter. The “Encore,” which was delivered in hopes that there would be music that would never stop between you and me, was illuminated by a pin spot and wrapped around the dome. As if it was their turn this time, 50,000 people listened to “HEART BEAT” and made their hearts sing.

At the beginning, the monster looked so powerful that it almost devoured Ayase and Ikura, but when a message was played saying that it wanted to bring its song closer to you who had met through music, Ayase and Ikura appeared from behind the stage in a balloon. Appearance. The two appeared at such an altitude that you could feel their closeness even from the top of the stands, and the whole venue seemed to be having fun, waving and pointing their cameras at them. In the following “Adventure”, band members riding in carts involve the audience in the arena and below the stands, heightening the celebratory feeling. Joining them on the center stage, the venue was filled with a happy aura as they performed “Tsubame,” which included not only the re-appearing kid dancers but also the members of the 1st and 2nd generation Midlies. The climax is a huge chorus of “Gunjo”. “All you have to do is enjoy!” Ikura shouts from the center, and as if to deliver the energy, the entire Tokyo Dome gathers on stage, and as if it just bursts, a large amount of confetti flies into the air. I put it down.

After the end credits, which reminded us that many staff members were involved in the stage, YOASOBI and the band members appeared in response to an enthusiastic encore. When Ikura began singing “Tachi Taite” with a pure white electric guitar in hand, loud cheers erupted once again. Her performance as singer-songwriter Rira Ikuta while playing the acoustic guitar is impressive, but as YOASOBI’s vocalist ikura, it’s refreshing. During the interlude and outro, AssH Yamamoto and Hikaru happily strum the guitar, making my heart pound as if the joy of making sounds overflows from my whole body. After expressing my gratitude for the encore, it’s been just under 3 hours so far. The finale is luxurious with a big chorus of their debut song “Yoru ni Kakeru”. I was once again reminded of the strength of YOASOBI’s songs.

After completing a hugely successful dome live show that attracted approximately 170,000 people over four days, they will embark on the largest Asian arena tour by a Japanese artist in December. It was also announced that a hall tour to various regions of Japan will be held from July 2025. Where and what kind of music will Ayase and Ikura play based on various stories, who not only strive for scale but also always try to sincerely face the customers in front of them? It was the 5th anniversary live that made me want to continue watching the journey.
