First released new song “Gumshoe (Dracula From Arkansas)” and music video
Trevor Powers, aka Youth Lagoon, a producer/songwriter based in Idaho, has released his new album, “Rarely Do I Dream.” He first released two singles from this album, “Speed Freak” and “Gumshoe (Dracula From Arkansas).”
In response to the private confessional style “Speed Freak,” the latest single “Gumshoe (Dracula From Arkansas)” features western-style tremolo guitar sounds, dog barking, family conversations, and distorted drum beats. .
“I’ve been told that listening to my music makes me feel like I’m dead in the woods, but I’ve never heard any more compliments in my mind,” he says.
“I don’t think there’s a song that’s as good as ‘Gumshoe’. I usually write songs to just go straight to the point of pure love and confusion, or just to drive away the devil, but this song has three songs. Everything is here…it may be the closest song ever to discover true freedom in music.”

In the fall of 2023, he discovered a shoebox filled with home videos in his family’s basement.
“I took the video home and played the first one and saw my younger brother Bobby and I when we went to the State Fair. At four, I was choking an American dog.” He laughs. “If I were to summarise my life, that’s what it is,” he said.
The following week he recorded his favourite moments from the video – Easter egg hunting, baseball in the backyard, nosebleeds, birthday parties, and long trips. And all the life between them. The vivid intimacy of his childhood and life engraved in the home video begin to shape and blend his songs. He sampled the sound and created a kind of musical cinematography that combined the past and future.
Based on love and childhood reminiscences, Rarely Do I Dream is a victory of American gothic creativity, with fairy tale-like innocence teenage wanderers, drug-addicted con artists and It blends into the vortex of radioactive materials such as the folklore of the old world. Away between propelling electronica and hallucinating rock tunes, his one-of-a-kind singing voice always glows in front and center, like a neon road sign pointing to his hometown.
“The more I rewind the tape of my life, the more I hear the voice of my soul,” he says.
“This is not a nostalgic hobby. Life is even more troublesome. It’s all dedicated to who I was, who I am, who I am, who I am trying to become.”
