Bobby Rush and Kenny Wayne Shepherd releases blues collaboration album by American music geniuses today

A special collaboration album by the “Real Bluesman” two

Bobby Rush is a 91-year-old legendary blues/soul singer. and blues guitarist/singer-songwriter Kenny Wayne Shepherd. A special collaboration album by the two “Real Bluesman” has been released, “YOUNG FASHIONED WAYS.”

Co-composed and recorded high-energy contemporary blues classics, the album features ten songs featuring Shepherd’s trademark guitar work and Rush’s soulful vocals, rhythm guitar and harmonica.

Shepherd says. “It’s not something you’d find that often you’d find an album that’s 100% real. The age difference is the most talked about when you collaborate between me and Bobby, but at the end of the day, he’s an incredibly talented musician and a great person who loves music like me. We started playing together and all of a sudden, age-related, no longer relevant. From the same place mentally, musically and of course, geographically (Louisiana), playing the blues, we were able to speak and accept the same words.”

And Rush also says: “With Young Fashioned Ways, we were able to prove something to each other. There were moments when tears fell in my mind. I’m so grateful to welcome Oldman, who has been trying to keep up with the trends for so many years, into the same place. Just as music makes me younger, it’s also energizing me to learn new things every day. Like he (Kenny) said, this is rare, and has an album like this been such a blues album recently? No one is my age who has done blues like this yet, and no one who is Kenny’s age can do any more old style blues. I look forward to having this album and having a lot of shows together.”

The 91-year-old Rush won three Grammy Awards for Best Traditional Blues Album for “Porcupine Meat,” “Rawer than Raw,” and 2024’s “All My Love For You.” He has also won 16 Blues Music Awards (56 nominations), and has been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame, the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame, and the Rhythm and Blues Hall of Fame.
