Drawing inspiration from 90’s musical styles and 2000’s visuals, he proudly showcases his confidence as a singer, songwriter, and producer with DEATH WOBBLES, taking the New Nostalgia resurgence to the next level. . The latest EP includes lead singles “DEATH WOBBLES” and “SHOOT!” co-written with Taka Perry, a producer with Australian and Japanese roots who also works with Denzel Curry, GoldLink, JP THE WAVY, SIRUP, etc. Also includes 6 new songs including the lead song “Sabrina”.

The lead track “Sabrina” embodies the EP’s nostalgic theme, with an appealing vocal hook and sophisticated production that draws on Cody’s own influences, including Craig David, Usher, and The Neptunes. .

“I’ve always wanted to write in this direction because I grew up listening to them, but I just never felt ready until now,” says Cody. “Working with Jason on production was really fun and combined all my favorite elements: fast guitar strumming, bouncy beats, stacked Brandy-esque harmonies and vocal production. hey.”

The lyrics address the internal battles of being in a heart-wrenching relationship. Cody explains:

“At some point, you know you should leave the (toxic) relationship, but you close your eyes to the bad parts out of fear of being alone. This is a blend of my own experience and that of my friend. When I started writing about a dominant relationship, I came up with the lyrics, “you got me in a trance, got me in a spell.” Suddenly I thought of “Sabrina the Witch”, and she had the ability to control her partner, and by manipulating her partner, she could make them think it was okay to stay the way they were. That’s where the title came from. “Love it how you hold my hand really tight, just ignore the blood spilling out the side” It’s a symbol of how things should look, but these controlling relationships are toxic. ”

Produced between Sydney and LA, Death Wobbles captures a pivotal moment in Cody John’s evolution as an artist.

Cody speaks. “With my first EP, Untied Shoes, I was exploring stepping into the adult world and acting like I knew what I was doing. It tells the story of a person’s first love, first breakup, first time worrying about age, growing up from a childhood friendship, and learning the complexities of a toxic relationship. I realized that it was bigger than I expected.”

In “CRUSHED,” the first track on “DEATH WOBBLES,” the now 21-year-old artist confronts the “age crisis” of leaving the teenage years with hopeful optimism and clever lyrics. Replaced hesitation and self-doubt with complete trust in his own creative instincts, he dove headfirst into a more sophisticated and sometimes darker sonic palette than his predecessor.

Finally, it moves seamlessly between high-octane dancefloor hits and dreamy, introspective cuts, ending with the achingly poignant “Curtain Call.” The moving piano ballad features Cody delivering his most impressive vocal performance to date.
