Nao’ymt releases 6th project of his career 25th anniversary, “Cage,” on June 1st. A world closed to the rain following the masterpiece “Isolated Island.”

The new song “Kage” was released on June 1st as the sixth installment of Nao’ymt’s 25th anniversary project, Yata Naoaki 2025.

This song, “Cage,” is a work that depicts a world blocked by rain, reminiscent of the popular song “Isle of Isle,” released in 2020, but their perspectives and emotions are very different.

While “The Isolated Island” was a song that envelops its kindness that protects you from the outside world amidst the restrictions on going out due to the pandemic, saying, “If you’re here, it’s fine” and “This is an isolated island,” while “The Cage” is set in a place that has been “attacked” by the rain. It is not a security of protection, but a loneliness and resignation that makes you feel left behind.

In today’s world, information is flooding in one after another, everything changes rapidly. Those tired of following the trends of the times, the phrase “We will be here until the rain stops, so don’t worry about it,” expresses the anxiety of stopping our path and the desperate desire to stay here for a little while.

“I’ll be here with you two” – this song quietly depicts such a secret accomplice-like love affair in the sound of rain.

This work was also starring Dave Kutch, who wrote the lyrics, composed, track-making and vocals by Nao’ymt himself, and mastered the film, with Dave Kutch, who also worked on The Weeknd, Son Lux, and Billie Eilish. His delicate and deep sound speaks to the breadth and depth of his musical expression.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary, the Yata Naoaki 2025 project is scheduled to release one new song on the first day of each month from January to December 2025, and “Kage” is the sixth installment. Nao’ymt’s dialogue between his inner self and the times, focusing on the question of what life is, still resonates in this work, but certainly does.
