In 2018, Matsuki Misada suddenly appeared on the pop scene from the jazz scene. When he posted his original songs on SoundCloud, his unique musicality immediately became a hot topic among core music fans, and he is now one of the most talked-about artists. After the release of his first album in November last year, his reputation spread rapidly not only among core music critics, but also among fellow artists and music-loving subscription users, and he began to be featured in various media.
At the end of the year, he held his first ever event, “The Magical Touch Album Listening Party,” inviting fans to attend, and sold his own leather products as official merchandise. In addition, in December he hosted the Nippon Broadcasting System radio show “Gaku no Ne” for five weeks as the solo personality. As this mysterious artist who never showed his real face online is gradually being revealed, people are paying attention not only to his music, but also to his charming humanity.
His latest work, “Moon,” is a romantic, fantastical love story. Musically, it is a waltz in three beats, which is the true essence of Mitsumasa Matsuki. It is also the first time in a long time that he has created everything from vocals to instruments and mixing by himself, making it a 100% pure work by Mitsumasa Matsuki.
The distribution jacket artwork for this release was also drawn by Matsuki Misada himself, following his previous works, and features a scene of a man and woman holding hands and dancing in monochrome against the backdrop of a large full moon, creating a fantastical atmosphere. A lyric video based on the jacket artwork will be released at 9pm on the 29th, the distribution release date, so please look forward to it.
In addition to this single, it appears that he is already working on new songs this year, so we’ll be keeping an eye on the music he continues to create.
[Self-liner notes by Matsuki Misada]
I wanted to write straightforward romantic music, so it was in three beats. That’s how it always goes.
Everything except the vocals was created using software programs.
Although the lyrics don’t go into detail, the song has the atmosphere of a monster that can take on human form only at night and an innocent, sheltered young lady having a rendezvous under the moonlight.
