Makiko Suzuki’s long-awaited second album “mukuge” will be released on June 26th. The music video for the lead single “Utsutsu” has also been released.

Makiko Suzuki started her activities as a member of chelmico in 2014. After releasing her EP “Deep green” in 2017, she joined the Kanagawa Prefecture-based “Neighborhood Recording Team” Pistachio Studio and started her solo career. Her first album “ms” released in 2021 attracted a lot of attention, and she has been active in a variety of fields, including participating as a guest artist in works by STUTS, TOSHIKI HAYASHI (%C), yonawo, PAS TASTA, idom, and others.

Since the beginning of this year, Suzuki Makiko has been active in rapid succession, releasing “Karakara,” a song written specifically for Otsuka Pharmaceutical’s new Pocari Sweat commercial, “Kimochi,” a song tied up with Kao’s new hair care brand melt, and the recently announced “Utsutsu.” She has finally decided to release her long-awaited second album, “mukuge,” on June 26th.

In this work, she developed ideas from the guitar, and artists close to her, such as ryo takahashi, TOSHIKI HAYASHI (%C), Mei Semones, a 23-year-old singer-songwriter and guitarist based in Brooklyn, and TiMT, a producer based in Tokyo, participated as composers and arrangers, taking on a more creative challenge than ever before. In addition, the luxurious sounds of gorgeous musicians such as Yuko Uesu, Wataru Mitsunaga, Naruki Numazawa, and ZAK were added, and a supreme album that accompanies Suzuki Makiko’s gentle singing voice was completed. The artwork was also done by Ryu Okubo, an illustrator whom she deeply respects, following the single. His unique sensibility and touch further enhance the worldview of her music.

Today, along with the release of the album, the music video for “Utsutsu,” which was released in advance in May, was also released. THE D SoraKi, who has won numerous dance battles and contests both in Japan and overseas, appears in the video, dancing lightly to the music, creating a comfortable feeling and breathing new life into the song.

Starting tomorrow at midnight, pre-save and pre-add for the album will also start. This album, which shows Makiko Suzuki’s talent reaching new heights, is sure to open up a new world of music. Please look forward to her second album, “mukuge”.

The previous album “ms” was made with the image of a small, cozy sound that would be made at home, but this time I aimed for a more outward-looking, open sound. I had musicians I respect participate in this album, and it’s become one of my personal favorites. I’m really happy that people can listen to the songs I’ve been saving up little by little. Recently, people have told me that Mamiko from chelmico and Mamiko Suzuki used to be the same person! I thought that was interesting.
