AWOLNATION has released their new single “I Am Happy” featuring Del The Funky Homosapien and the accompanying music video. The song follows the release of the singles “Panoramic View” and “Jump Sit Stand March” featuring Emily Armstrong. These tracks will also appear on their upcoming album, “The Phantom Five,” due for release on August 30th.

“I got in touch with Del (The Funky Homosapien) through my friend Dan the Automator,” explains Aaron Bruno, AKA Awolnation. “He was like, ‘Yeah, send it over,’ and I was like, ‘What? Seriously? OK, yeah.’ I sent him a song with a similar structure to the current one, but I made a verse longer so he could sing as much as he wanted, and he perfected it and sent it back to me. It was super cool to send him a song with a chorus about finding happiness in these weird, upside-down times.”
“I think the point of the song is about grappling with things, recognising them, figuring out if they’re real and trying to make the best of them at the same time,” Bruno continues.
“Del has really taken a lyric about being happy in the face of fear and expressed it so beautifully. It’s a real honour. It’s like my Gorillaz song. I didn’t realise it at the time, but Del raps the line ‘Panoramic View’ in the Gorillaz song ‘Clint Eastwood’. The guy’s a legend.”

The new album “The Phantom Five” is composed of 10 songs that transpose all the desires and impulses that Bruno learned in AEWOLNATION into anthemic modern music. For listeners who have followed the trajectory of the band’s transformational nature, it can be called almost a “best album” that everyone can agree on. The theme is how to find happiness in strange, upside-down times.
“I Am Happy” is the third single from the upcoming album, The Phantom Five. The music video for the first single, “Panoramic View,” released in March, has been viewed nearly 900,000 times on YouTube and over 8 million times across music platforms. It recently hit #15 on the US Alternative Radio chart. The second single, “Jump Sit Stand March” (feat. Emily Armstrong), released in May, has also been popular.

This year marks the 13th anniversary of the release of AWOLNATION’s debut album, Megalithic Symphony, which skyrocketed their career with the song “Sail,” now certified with RIAA Diamond status.
About Aaron Bruno (aka AWOLNATION):
Bruno is the de facto leader, songwriter, and creative nerve center of Los Angeles-based project AWOLNATION. He spent the better part of his 20s helming a pop-leaning electronic and alternative rock band that has generated millions in record sales and streaming, chart-topping singles, and countless live shows for enthusiastic fans around the world.
