KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO will perform the virtual stage play “Otogibanashi (Dome) ver1.25_Alternative Feat. KAMITSUBAKI PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA” on October 4, 2024 (Friday) at Lumiere Hall, Kadoma Civic Cultural Center, Osaka in January 2025, and Fukuoka in February 2025.・We have announced that the performance will be performed at the Fukuoka Prefectural Momochi Cultural Center.
KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO’s orchestra project “KAMITSUBAKI PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA” will participate in this performance, and will enliven the performance with orchestral arranged music.

■The first local performance of a “growth-type work” that changes little by little with each performance is finally held.
The virtual stage play “Otogibanashi” is a science fiction juvenile story whose original idea and producer is KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO’s general producer, PIEDPIPER.
On Friday, October 4, 2024, the first performance of the virtual stage play “Otogibanashi (Some) ver1.11_launch Feat. KAMITSUBAKI PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA” will be held. Virtual singers Kafu, Rime, Harusarubi, Isekai Jodo, Yukii, and voice actor Yuki Kaji served as the main characters, and the play was performed in a virtual space.
This work is not a one-time performance, but is a growing work that will be performed multiple times at various venues, and the content will be updated little by little each time. Due to the nature of the work, distribution tickets will not be sold and the performance will be limited to theaters.
The first regional performances will be in Osaka on Sunday, January 5, 2025, and in Fukuoka on Wednesday, February 26, 2025.
For this performance as well, the music was arranged by KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO’s orchestral project “KAMITSUBAKI PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA”, and the songs that are linked to the grand juvenile story make the theatrical experience even richer.
■Challenge to virtual stage plays that expand the possibilities of virtual artists
In “Otogibanashi,” virtual artists Hanafu, Rime, Harusaruga, Isekai Jodo, and Koei take on the challenge of acting in a virtual space as “actors.” We will incorporate multi-layered expressions in which virtual artists, who have their own “character characteristics”, play a completely different existence, and will embody the further possibilities of virtual artists.
In addition, a gorgeous voice actor team including Yuki Kaji, who plays the role of the main character Shin Makimura/Makoto Makimura, Akira Ishida, and Takahiro Sakurai, are appointed. With talented voice actors, the story is enriched with depth and realistic acting.
KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO has been training artists, developing original stories, and researching and developing future XR experiences and the metaverse. Our studio’s new storytelling experience, “Virtual Stage Play,” allows audiences to visually experience a world that combines virtual and real. The mysterious immersive feeling, which is different from a normal live performance, gives the story and actors a vivid presence, and invites you to a new world that goes beyond the framework of the theater and is different from ordinary theater.
In addition, the “Otogibanashi” project is a joint production between KDDI and THINKR, with the aim of embodying a new form of performing arts expression using cutting-edge technology. The virtual stage play is realized using the performance of a virtual artist using motion capture and the latest “virtual set” technology. The two companies plan to conduct research and development of new expressions using AI and XR technology as part of their future “Otogibanashi” project.
