AS I LAY DYING’s members and tour manager have left the group one after another, and while attention has been focused on the future and departure of long-time member Phil Sgrosso (Gt), Phil announced his departure on his SNS. All members except frontman Tim Lambesis have now left the group.
Phil wrote on Instagram: “Recent events, including the departure of members and the cancellation of our European tour ahead of the release of our new album, make it clear that we are in a difficult and serious situation.” Simply put, recent actions have shown us that AS I LAY DYING no longer provides a healthy and safe environment for everyone involved, whether creatively, personally or professionally. OK, after witnessing some concerning patterns of behavior, I know in good conscience that I can no longer tolerate this behavior that could negatively impact the people who work in this space. For these reasons, I feel it is best to completely distance myself from AS I LAY DYING both creatively and personally,” he said of his reasons for leaving the band.
Additionally, regarding Ryan Neff (Bas/Vo), Ken Susi (Gt), and Nick Pierce (Dr), who had previously announced their withdrawal, he said, “I would like to fully support them,” and “I would like to express my full support to them, and their accomplishments over the past three years. I am grateful for your friendship.”
Phil was also in charge of composing and producing the new album “Through Storms Ahead,” scheduled for release on November 15th.
