“100 Cameras/Fuji Rock Festival” will be broadcast on NHK General TV on June 24th!
“100 Cameras” is a documentary program that observes people’s behavior by installing 100 fixed cameras in interesting places. The episode airing on June 24th will be set at the pioneering summer festival, “Fuji Rock Festival.” This year, Fuji Rock will be held for three days from July 26th at Naeba Ski Resort in Niigata Prefecture. How is Japan’s largest festival, which attracts 110,000 visitors, managed? 100 cameras closely followed “Fuji Rock,” which was held last year in 2023.
At the request of an artist, a mission suddenly arises to procure “festival food” from around the venue and deliver it to the dressing room, and sudden heavy rain and thunder threaten to cancel the stage of “World’s YAZAWA,” which is participating for the first time… We observe the efforts of the staff, who run around the vast 4km-long site without being noticed, in order to run the massive festival smoothly, safely and securely.
■Audrey’s comment
Wakabayashi: I think this almost every time I watch 100 Cameras, but we shouldn’t think, “We want to be praised for our work.” It’s true that it only works because of the people behind the scenes.
Kasuga: Yes, that’s right. The people behind the scenes were preparing it.
