Regarding this irregular announcement, the “ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL” secretariat has released the following message from J-Fest general producer Kaizu Ryo.
The first round of additional artists announced: Southern All Stars!
ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL 2024 in HITACHINAKA will be in an extremely irregular format, but we are pleased to announce the first batch of additional artists, Southern All Stars.
We do not normally mention specific artists in our announcements, but this time let me provide a brief explanation.
Southern All Stars will perform on the final day of the festival, Monday, September 23rd (a holiday). This will be announced before the timetable is announced, but they will be the final act on all five days.
Southern All Stars have performed at the festival twice in the past, in 2005 and 2018, headlining the final day of the festival both times. We had been asking them to perform again at the Hitachinaka event, which will be their first in five years and mark the festival’s 25th anniversary.
This was the wish of myself and the rest of the RIJF secretariat, and above all, it was also the wish of our former general producer, Yoichi Shibuya, who is currently undergoing treatment for an illness. I am very happy that this wish has come true.
As has been announced on the artist’s official website, this will be Southern All Stars’ last appearance at Rock in Japan.
Please note that the performance time of Southern All Stars will be longer than usual. Therefore, please note that a total of 7 artists will be performing on the 23rd (Monday, a substitute holiday).
ROCK IN JAPAN FESTIVAL 2024 in HITACHINAKA will feature a total of 39 artists, including the second round of artists to be announced later, and we will do our best to create the most festive atmosphere worthy of our 25th anniversary, so please look forward to it.
