■ Ben Klock

One of today’s most in-demand techno DJs, Ben Klock needs no introduction. Closely associated with Berlin’s legendary club Berghain since 2005, his monthly residencies have become a stage for international success, demonstrating his ability to create spaces, not just play music. . His early career was marked by marathon sets (long hours of play), which played a key role in developing his skills and reputation. Even with his now shorter sets, the delicate sense of storytelling and flow that runs throughout his sets is what sets him apart as a DJ. In recognition of this ability, he produced the ‘fabric 66’ compilation in 2012 and was awarded BBC Radio 1’s ‘Essential Mix of the Year’ in 2015. His releases occupy an important place in the history of the Ostgut Ton label. In particular, the collaborative song “Dawning” with Marcel Dettmann, released in 2009, stands out as a track that symbolizes the start of the label, and is still considered an important work in its discography. Additionally, “Subzero” from the “Before One EP” is known as the track that served as the entry point into the genre for many techno fans. But for many, it’s his 2009 album One that best represents his talents as a producer. His remixing skills are also evident, as he reimagines tracks from artists as diverse as Kerri Chandler, Depeche Mode, Robert Hood, and Kenny Larkin. Additionally, he founded his own label, Klockworks, in 2006, which he curates with passion. With releases from artists such as DVS1, Stef Mendesidis, The Advent, Sterac, Etapp Kyle, and Temudo, Klockworks has become synonymous with unique, high-quality techno. In 2017, we started “PHOTON”, a unique concept show that combines light, architecture, and music. Since then, they have toured around the world playing special venues around the world, including London’s Printworks, Amsterdam’s Gashouder, and São Paulo’s Arca, setting a new standard for visual and acoustic electronic music events. In 2023, after a hiatus due to the pandemic, PHOTON will restart with new visuals and an artistic concept.
