ARTIST INFO

LIL PUMP

With her hypnotic flow and mischievous flair, rapper LIL PUMP scored a viral smash in 2017 with “Gucci Gang,” the single from her self-titled debut. Chart success and platinum certification continued, leading to collaborations with Diplo and Kanye West before the release of 2019’s Harvard Dropout. His heavy work continued into the next decade, and in 2021 he released the album “No Name” with Ronny J.

Born in Miami in 2000, Gazzy Garcia, aka LIL PUMP, had little interest in music production during his childhood. When he was in the third year of junior high school, he got into a fight with another student and was expelled from school, which led him to start writing rap songs and making his own tracks. Already friends with Smokepurpp, he began collaborating with the rapper/producer in 2016, releasing tracks online that featured a repetitive and reckless style. The response was overwhelming, with millions of views in a relatively short period of time. Singles like “Broke My Wrist,” “D Rose,” and “Elementary” expanded his fame, and LIL PUMP’s fame grew with each song.

Building on the strength of a few online tracks, the huge popularity of videos, tours, and social media continued. Various labels expressed interest, but in the first year of the rapper’s career, he had not released a full-length album or even a mixtape. His big breakthrough came in 2017 with the breakout hit single “Gucci Gang.” The song reached the top three of the Hot 100 by the end of the year and was certified triple platinum. In October, he released his debut mixtape “Lil Pump,” which featured appearances by Smokepurpp, Gucci Mane, Lil Yachty, and others. The song peaked at number 3 on the Billboard 200 and number 2 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart. Later that year, he scored another hit with “Welcome to the Party,” a collaboration with Diplo, French Montana, and Zhavia Ward, which was included on the Deadpool 2 soundtrack. Things continued to rise from there with viral movements, and he spent much of 2018 featuring on songs by big rappers, appeared on tracks by Lil Yachty, Lil Rich, BlocBoy JB, and even appeared on a viral video by Spike Jonze. He ended the year with a collaborative single with Kanye West, “I Love It,” which was accompanied by a video.

In February 2019, LIL PUMP released her second album, “Harvard Dropout.” The album, released by Warner Bros., features guest appearances including Lil Wayne, YG, 2 Chainz, Offset, and Quavo. He remained active over the next decade, releasing singles such as “Illuminati” and “Life Like Me” with Anuel AA, before releasing a joint album with Ronny J, “No Name”, in late 2021. . A solo single, “In Da Way,” was also released early the following year.
