With her unique looks and outfit, YOJI BIOMEHANIKA suddenly appeared like a meteor, and quickly gained popularity with her intense yet emotional dance music called “NU-NRG” over 150 BPM, causing a major shakeup of the scene.
The Shinjuku LIQUID ROOM (sometimes Ebisu Garden Hall), which was the venue for VIVA, is filled with clouds every time. The so-called “honeycar” that was influenced by YOJI BIOMEHANIKA’s fashion also proliferated, causing a social phenomenon, involving “fashion” and “culture.”

In the early ’90s, he began working as a dance music producer/DJ “YOJI BIOMEHANIKA.” He has already released numerous works from German and British labels in Japan, gaining attention overnight, and has risen to stardom as the best of NU-NRG, creating followers known as “Honeycar.”
The songs released so far have ranked high on music sites’ charts and have produced many songs that have become world-class anthems.
He ranked unprecedentedly at the 32nd place in the DJ Mag Top 100 as a domestic artist, and appeared at big festivals such as Mysteryland, Defqon-1, Dance Valley, Tomorrowland, In Control, EDC, Creamfields, and other events, and was selected as the headliner at the arena for the second consecutive year in the unprecedented two years. He is a legend who has been active on major stages around the world and continues to show his true value.

In 1994, he began his career in London as a live performance act by the duo Les Elston and Adam Newman. He toured globally, including the UK, the Netherlands, Australia, Japan, Finland and other countries. Using original hard trance tunes as a weapon, the company overwhelmed the Cloud with numerous gigs, and its popularity expanded to various locations.
In 2001, he made his major debut in Japan with “YOJI BIOMEHANIKA Presents Lab 4 In the Mix (Superb Trax (avex).)”.
In 2020, Adam Newman retired from the music business, and Les Elston continued to work as Lab4. Recently, he has appeared mainly as a DJ on stage, and has been active in the UK’s largest hard trance festival, “HTE WEEKENDER,” and “Frantic,” a long-established brand in the UK HARDHOUSE scene. As a producer, he has been releasing his own label AtomikA, HTE, HQ and other labels, making a hit on charts such as Beatport.
In 2024, they released the album “Mechanism Of Resistance,” which includes new songs, past live sets, and remixes of Lab4’s classic songs. In 2025, we plan to release the “Lab4 30th Anniversary Back Catalog USB,” which contains a large number of unreleased audio from the late 1990s to the mid-2000s.
