As part of a project to bring new music based on the game sounds of the "Pokémon" series to the world, the new song "Lucky (feat. UMI)" will be available for download from Friday, May 24th, and the LP containing the song will be released!

Universal Music LLC (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hisashi Fujikura; hereafter referred to as Universal Music) will be releasing “Lucky (feat. UMI)” by Nulbarich, Sunny, and UMI from the music project “Pokémon Music Collective” on Friday, May 24th. A limited edition LP containing six songs will also be released at the same time, featuring new songs added to the CD “Pokémon Music Collective” released last year.

The Pokémon Music Collective is a music project with the concept of “bringing new music to the world based on the sounds from the Pokémon series of games.” In this project, artists active in various genres sample Pokémon game sounds and release newly created songs.

This work is produced in its entirety by singer-songwriter JQ, and is a collaboration between Nulbarich, a band active internationally with a unique groove, and Sunny, a producer who works with many artists including K-POP and J-POP, and features UMI, a Japanese-American artist who gained attention with the hit single “wherever ur” in which she performed with BTS’s V.

The music video was jointly produced by MAPPA, the animation studio behind “Jujutsu Kaisen,” “Attack on Titan: The Final Season,” and “Chainsaw Man,” and Contrail, a newly established animation film studio made up mainly of the production staff behind “In This Corner of the World.”

In addition, a limited edition LP containing six songs will be released at the same time, including the five songs from last year’s CD “Pokémon Music Collective” plus this new song. To commemorate the release, an interactive photo spot where you can watch the music video will be set up in the Shibuya PARCO Park Street Square for three days from May 24th (Friday) to 26th (Sunday), and a collaborative campaign with Pokémon Center Shibuya will also be held.

Nulbarich

Nulbarich is produced in its entirety by singer-songwriter JQ (Vo.).

In October 2016, the first album “Guess Who?” was released.

Just two years later, they performed at the Budokan, which immediately sold out.

They have performed numerous live shows not only in Japan but also in Asia, including Seoul, Taipei, and Shanghai.

The music is based on live performances and sampling them.

The groovy sound that comes from JQ’s unique style as a beatmaker is

Blending in with bilingual vocals,

It is sublimated into an emotional and pop original sound.

The band’s name also reflects JQ’s feelings about this ambivalent style.

Sunny

Music producer, songwriter, and composer. He has produced and written over 400 songs for artists including BTS, BLACKPINK, Namie Amuro, Daichi Miura, Sandaime J Soul Brothers, NOA, BE:FIRST, and SALU.

UMI

UMI is a singer-songwriter with roots in Japan and the United States who releases songs that resonate with people’s hearts by incorporating various elements of R&B, soul, hip-hop, etc. She debuted in 2018 and released her first EP “Interlude”. After that, she released her second EP “Love Language” in 2019, her major debut EP “Introspection” in 2020, her debut album “Forest In The City” in May 2022, and “wherever ur feat V of BTS” in December 2024, featuring BTS’s V. It reached number one in the iTunes store in over 100 countries. Immediately after that, she released her latest EP “talking to the wind” in January. UMI’s works express her own struggles and fun experiences, such as “I was born and am an American, but I feel compassion for my other roots, Japan,” through her songs, and she is one of the artists currently gaining support from the younger generation.

What is the Pokémon Music Collective?
