Universal Music LLC (head office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Fujikura Nao / hereinafter referred to as Universal Music) will release the original soundtrack CD of Snow White, a live-action musical version by Disney, exclusively in Japan, on Wednesday, April 23rd.
Snow White is Disney’s first feature film and the world’s first color feature animation. We will be releasing an original soundtrack that includes all the songs from the movie sung by the voice actors in the live-action musical version of “Snow White,” a premium dubbed version.
The music for this work is Pasek and Paul, who has worked on hit works such as La La Land and the Greatest Showman. In addition to the songs “Whistle and Work” and “Hi Ho,” which are familiar from the animated versions, the story will be dramatically decorated with new songs written by them. The premium dubbed version brings together talented cast members including Yoshiyanagi Sakura (as Snow White), a member of global boys group JO1, Kono Junki (as Jonathan), an actor who just left the Takarazuka Revue last year. The original Japanese soundtrack includes all the music that will brighten up the story, including the epic dramatic song “Waiting On A Wish” sung by Yoshiyanagi Sakura, the romantic duet love song by Snow White and Jonathan, and the musical number “Beauty is Everything,” sung by the Queen, who has an evil yet elegant charm.
This work, the only CD in Japan, is available only in the world, and has a colorful design that expresses the world of Snow White with a CD-sized paper jacket. The first-come, first-served purchase bonus is a postcard with a 2D code that allows you to read exclusive interviews and comments from premium dubbed voice actors Yoshiyanagi and Kono. The content can only be read here, including the feelings that the two of them shared in this work and the charm of the music.
