Universal Music LLC (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Hisashi Fujikura; hereafter referred to as Universal Music) will distribute all songs by BLANKEY JET CITY on music streaming and download services from Sunday, July 28th. All original albums will be released on vinyl, including those released on vinyl for the first time, from Wednesday, September 25th through next year.
“BLANKEY JET CITY” is a legendary three-piece rock band consisting of Kenichi Asai (Vo/Gt), Toshiyuki Terui (B), and Tatsuya Nakamura (Dr). About 24 years after their breakup in 2000, they opened their official YouTube artist channel and official X on Tuesday, July 2nd. When the latest video of their live performance “LAST DANCE”, the final performance of their last tour at Yokohama Arena, was first released on YouTube Premiere, 31,000 people watched the video, and it was the number one trending topic in Japan on X.
All songs by BLANKEY JET CITY will be available on music streaming and download services from Sunday, July 28th. July 28th is the day 24 years ago when they became the first Japanese artists to headline the Fuji Rock Festival (July 28th, 2000), and it was also the day that BLANKEY JET CITY performed last. Ahead of the release of all songs, the live album “LAST DANCE” is being released in advance.
In addition, the original album will be released on analog for the first time. All 10 albums, including the 7 original albums, will be released on analog with the latest cutting. The first album “Red Guitar and the Truth” and the second album “BANG!” (both 180g heavyweight / 2-disc double jacket specification / limited production edition) will be released on Wednesday, September 25th, and are scheduled to be released sequentially through 2025.
The analog version was digitally transferred in high resolution from the original master tapes, which were all recorded analog at the time, and then cut directly. By eliminating any unnecessary digital limiting during the mastering process, the dynamic range of the original mix is reproduced exactly as it was, allowing you to enjoy a sound image that is different from that of a CD.
To commemorate the release of all the original albums on vinyl, vinyl versions with T-shirts of the original album jackets will be released in limited quantities exclusively at UNIVERSAL MUSIC STORE. Reservations are currently being accepted at various CD shop sites and stores, including UNIVERSAL MUSIC STORE, for a total of four titles: two titles released on September 25th and two titles released on November 27th.
