The Police’s 5th album “Synchronicity” 40th anniversary edition will be released on Friday, July 26th!

Universal Music LLC (headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Fujikura Hisashi; hereinafter referred to as “Universal Music”) will release a 40th anniversary edition of The Police’s fifth album, “Synchronicity,” on Friday, July 26th.

The Police is a trio band formed in 1977 known for their melodies and genre-defying new wave sound.

The album “Synchronicity” has sold over 15 million copies worldwide, and the hit single “Every Breath You Take” became the most played song in radio history, with over 15 million plays. It was nominated for five Grammy Awards in 1984, winning three awards: Best Song, Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group, and Best Pop Performance. The 40th anniversary edition was produced over three years with the participation of the band members.

In Japan, the album will be released in two formats: a 2-CD regular edition and a 6-CD limited edition Super Deluxe Edition. Disc 1 of the regular edition contains the latest remaster of the original album, and Disc 2 contains B-side tracks and bonus tracks, all of which are released on CD for the first time. The Super Deluxe Edition includes everything in the regular edition, plus Discs 3-4 (unreleased material) containing demos, alternate mixes, and instrumental versions, and Discs 5-6 (unreleased material) containing live recordings recorded in Oakland in September 1983. The booklet also contains 64 pages of original liner notes, interviews/translations, precious archive images, and unpublished photos.
