Flute player Cocomi’s third album “Neos” will be released on October 18th (Friday)!


Universal Music LLC (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Takashi Fujikura / Universal Music) will release Cocomi’s third album “Neos” on October 18th. It will be released on Friday).

Cocomi, a flutist, made his world debut on New York’s prestigious label DECCA GOLD.

This work, which is Cocomi’s third album, focuses on the chamber music composition that Cocomi has been working on in recent years, and also features “flute, cello and Trio for Piano Op.86”, “Sonata H.254 for Flute, Violin and Piano” by Bohuslav Martinu, one of the great Czech composers who was also influenced by French Impressionism and jazz, “Sonata H.254 for flute, violin and piano”, flute and Contains a total of 5 songs, including 3 jazz standard numbers arranged for piano. In addition to the regular CD, the limited edition with high-quality UHQCD will include an all-color booklet with a double-sided jacket full of Cocomi’s latest photos.

The works include Atsushi Yamanaka, a pianist who is also active as a composer and arranger; Harumasa Sato, who achieved the feat of becoming the first Japanese to win the cello section of the Munich International Music Competition; Young up-and-coming artists in the classical world, such as violinist Ryota Higashi, are participating.

To commemorate the release, we will be holding a YouTube Live from 8pm on Friday, October 18th, the release date. Cocomi will talk about the behind-the-scenes stories behind the production of the album while introducing the products. In addition, at Tower Records Online, 10 people who purchase eligible products will be randomly selected to receive an autographed postcard B. Cocomi is scheduled to hold his third recital at Kioi Hall on Tuesday, December 10th. In addition to Tokyo, his debut recital in Osaka will be held at Sumitomo Life Insurance Izumi Hall on Monday, December 9th. Many songs from this album will be performed, and the co-stars will be Atsushi Yamanaka, Ryota Azuma, and cellist Yusuke Yabe.

■Cocomi (flute) profile

Started playing the violin at the age of 3 and the flute at the age of 11.

Completed master class with Vladimir Ashkenazy and Emmanuel Payud.

So far, he has received the Excellence Award three times, the Grand Prize once, and the Special Award at the Yamano Junior Flute Competition. In 2019, he won the highest prize at the Japan Music Competition. He won first place in the wind instrument category and won the French Modern Music Award.

In January 2021, he appeared as a soloist in the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra’s “New Year Concert 2021″. In the same year, he also appeared in the “On Stage” recorded without an audience at Nishi Honganji Temple in Kyoto.

Released debut album “de l’amour” in April 2022. He successfully completed his debut recital held at Kioi Hall in Tokyo in December.

In February 2023, he appeared as a guest at pianist Lang Lang’s concert held at Radio City Music Hall in New York. He made his world debut at a performance.

In March of the same year, he completed the College Diploma Course at Toho Gakuen University’s Faculty of Music.

In October, he appeared as a guest at violinist David Garrett’s performance in Japan. In November, he released his second album “Mélancolie” and held his second recital at Kioi Hall in Tokyo.

Currently enrolled in the Soloist Diploma Course at the same university.

He studies flute with Mayu Izumi and Hiroaki Kanda, principal flutist of the NHK Symphony Orchestra.
