Naotaro Moriyama 20th Anniversary Tour “Wonderful World” Documentary “Wonderful World History”

■Product explanation

This was the culmination of Naotaro Moriyama’s two-year journey to create Naotaro Moriyama.

What is the true nature of the “wonderful world” revealed in the “extra edition” at Ryogoku Kokugikan? Everything about singer-songwriter Naotaro Moriyama, woven through never-before-seen footage

After the 2018-2019 tour “Ningen no Mori,” Naotaro Moriyama went through a lot of mental stress, and suffered from vocal problems as an aftereffect.

I’m afraid I’ll never be able to sing again… In the summer of 2021, when he was starting to recover from such a situation, he contracted the coronavirus and became seriously ill, forcing him to experience being on the brink of death. The experience of actually feeling the touch of death and barely escaping from it led him to write a song. That was “A Wonderful World.”

“What a Wonderful World” becomes a ray of light, resulting in an album and a 100-date tour. This tour, which was held in three styles: vocal singing, bluegrass, and band, followed the roots of Naotaro Moriyama’s style, and reached a conclusion after the 101st additional performance. Disc 1 adopts the center stage for the first time, surrounded by the audience, and shows his refreshing determination that the stage is the only place he can live, and the story of his life so far on the stage. Here is a memorable live performance of the 102nd Ryogoku Kokugikan (extra edition) in which Naotaro Moriyama assumed all aspects of the life of a person named Naotaro Moriyama, which condensed everything. Thanks to the unique perspective of director Shuichi Bamba, who has been working alongside the director for six years, the film is completely recorded with a sense of reality that is the opposite of “visual beauty.”

Disc 2 is a documentary that closely follows the first day of the 100 tour, from the indie era at Kichijoji Mandara where they performed live, to the final performance “Bangaihen” in Taipei. However, this is not a bonus.

Naotaro Moriyama’s narration, which seems to have been inserted later in the style of a diary, is like a soliloquy, a poem, or a word of the day on a daily calendar, ensuring the quality of the work and the two discs. Complementary stories emerge. It becomes a “record” combined with Disc 1.

In other words, you can view it chronologically from Disc 2 to Disc 1, or you can enjoy it by watching Disc 1 and then filling in the gaps to deepen your understanding with Disc 2.

The 20th anniversary tour “Subaru Sekai” was initially billed as the “100 tour,” but it ended up being the longest tour of his career, with 107 tours.

There are these words in the diary-like narrative that appears on Disc 2.

“Originally, you have a country or hometown within yourself.”

Naotaro Moriyama continues to be a singer-songwriter with a “wonderful world” in his hands.
