Taiwan-based soul/funk artist Yufu will release his first album “Heal Me Good” from Zip Records in the Netherlands on Friday, January 24th.
Yufu grew up listening to Motown and oldies, and has an indescribable respect for the music of artists who play soul, funk, and R&B with psychedelic elements, such as Curtis Mayfield, Willie Hutch, Barry White, and Eddie Kendricks. He said he held me. Yufu stands out among the few Asian soul musicians as a songwriter who celebrates and is influenced by the works of the greats who have created soul music, yet creates his own unique sound from them.
This work “Heal Me Good” is the long-awaited full album following the self-released EP “To My Penpal” in 2021 and the studio live session “Yufu on CINEMAPHONIC” released in 2023. In today’s society, where the influence of digitalization and AI is increasing, Yufu has focused his efforts on recreating the warm tones that evoke the sensual sounds and atmosphere of Seoul’s golden age. ”, the theme of “medicine” incorporates the healing and intoxicating feelings that everyone encounters during love, and expresses the movement of the heart that evokes deep feelings for someone special.
“Honey If You’re Extra” and “When?” from the album are currently available for pre-release.
