VIDEOTAPEMUSIC releases new song featuring Kakudo Mami, themed on Nomozaki, Nagasaki

It has been announced that VIDEOTAPEMUSIC will release their new single “Nomozaki (feat. Kakudo Mami)” on Wednesday, May 29th.

This is a pre-release single from the new album “Revisit” scheduled to be released on Wednesday, June 5th. The song is based on Nomozaki, Nagasaki, and features a reading and chorus by Nagasaki-born musician Kakudo Mami. In addition, a part of the diary of the revisit to Nomozaki, Nagasaki, from the book (160 pages) included with the limited edition cassette book of “Revisit” has been published on note.

In recent years, VIDEOTAPEMUSIC has been creating music while conducting fieldwork in various places in Japan. In addition to the songs that were revisited (= revisited) and re-recorded and reconstructed in Tatebayashi (Gunma), Nomozaki (Nagasaki), Susaki (Kochi), Shiojiri (Nagano), and Ureshino (Saga) that he visited during his residency production, his fifth album “Revisit” includes two new songs written for his solo performance “UNDER THE LAKE” (held in December 2023) held at Shibuya WWW in Tokyo, themed on Lake Tama, and two remix tracks by artists with ties to Susaki and Nomozaki, oono yuuki, who is from Kochi and has experience in residency production in Susaki, and Akito Tabira, an artist from Nagasaki, for a total of nine songs.

The aforementioned limited edition cassette book will be packaged in a special case and will include the album’s audio (cassette tape), a 160-page book containing texts about the artist’s work and the places he visited, such as his diary entries from his stays and visits, and other records and memories. It is scheduled to be released on the same day.

The album, which uses a lot of field recordings from around the world, was mixed and mastered by Chihei Hatakeyama, an artist who has released a number of ambient and drone works from labels around the world. The book was edited by Yu Sakurai (TISSUE Inc.), and the artwork and design were done by Kei Sakawaki.
